Making a difference

Founders Samantha and Daniel Mazzei presented a cheque of over $100,000 raised at the Inaugural Mazzei Foundation Gala to Safe Steps Family Violence Response CentreDr Chelsea Tobin, CF, GAICD, CEO of Safe Steps, shared that this funding is expected to provide supported accommodation in Sanctuary for women and children escaping family violence. In addition, the funds will support vital services that ensure continuity of care and education for those in need. While Safe Steps is still finalising the exact allocation of these funds, we are confident they will be strategically invested in initiatives. Beyond the financial support, the partnership between the Mazzei Foundation and Safe Steps continues to grow, fostering valuable connections and sharing expertise to help those rebuilding their lives after escaping family and domestic violence.

Giving back

Thirteen years ago, motivated by their own journey, the founders of Mazzei Group began raising charitable funds to turn their pain into purpose. Daniel and Samantha Mazzei, through the enormously generous support of both the construction industry and their own personal communities have raised and donated over $1 million to support victims of domestic and family violence, most notably participating in the Moomba Birdman competition for Bravehearts since 2011.

This year Mazzei Group launched the Mazzei Foundation dedicated to combating the cycle of domestic abuse, focused on creating safe spaces and offering support to those affected. Their efforts not only provide crucial support to people experiencing domestic violence and their families but also aim to foster a culture of education, understanding and action against family violence within the construction industry and beyond.

Our Mission and Safe Steps Partnership

Mazzei Foundation and Safe Steps Family Violence Response Centre are united by a common goal: to raise awareness, educate and create safe and supportive environments for all people experiencing family and domestic violence. Together, they aim to maximise their impact by leveraging their combined expertise and resources. The Mazzei Foundation has committed to extensive fundraising activities for the benefit of Safe Steps. These funds will support the essential work of Safe Steps to ensure they continue to provide critical services to people experiencing family and domestic violence. For those staying in Safe Steps' critical accommodation, these funds will also provide crisis care packages, essential items and children's education supports.

The partnership with Safe Steps seeks to create a lasting legacy that addresses the immediate needs of people experiencing domestic and family violence and their family members, whilst working towards preventing future instances through education and community support. As momentum grows it is a long-term hope that together they can inspire those in our industry to join them in their crusade to work towards solving the issue of the lack of transitional housing solutions.
